A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the responsibilities of a parent to support his or her 
child while enrolled in a secondary school.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 151.001 (b), Family Code, is amended to 
read as follows: 
	(b)  The duty of a parent to support his or her child exists 
while the child is an unemancipated minor and continues as long as 
the child is fully enrolled in an accredited secondary school or an 
unaccredited private school, including a home school, in a program 
leading toward a high school diploma until the end of the second 
year in which the child graduates.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
