A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to violations of certain conditions of parole or mandatory supervision; providing criminal penalties. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Chapter 38, Penal Code, is amended by adding Section 38.114 to read as follows: Sec. 38.114. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH CONDITIONS OF PAROLE OR MANDATORY SUPERVISION. (a) A person commits an offense if the person is required as a condition of release on parole or mandatory supervision to: (1) obtain the permission of the pardons and paroles division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before changing addresses and to notify the division of the location of the new residence and the person fails to obtain permission or notify the division as required; and (2) report to a parole officer and the person fails to report as required on two consecutive occasions. (b) An offense under this section is a state jail felony. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
