A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to certain hearings relating to a person placed on 
community supervision for violation of a court order in a suit 
affecting the parent-child relationship.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 157.216(b), Family Code, is amended to 
read as follows:  
	(b)  The hearing under this section may not be held later 
than the fifth [third] working day after the date the respondent is 
arrested.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003, and 
applies to a hearing for a person placed on community supervision on 
or after that date.  The hearing for a person placed on community 
supervision before the effective date of this Act is governed by the 
law in effect on the date the person was placed on supervision, and 
the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
