A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the designation of an elevated pedestrian walkway over 
Interstate Highway 635 as the Joe Ratcliff Walkway.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, 
is amended by adding Section 225.060 to read as follows:
	Sec. 225.060.  JOE RATCLIFF PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY.  (a)  The 
elevated pedestrian walkway extending over Interstate Highway 635 
in Dallas County and connecting the City of Farmers Branch and the 
City of Dallas is designated as the Joe Ratcliff Walkway.
	(b)  The department shall install signs on both sides of the 
pedestrian walkway indicating the designation of the walkway as the 
Joe Ratcliff Walkway.  The signs must be of a design and size to be 
clearly legible to motorists traveling on Interstate Highway 635.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
