A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a study of flood control in certain counties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. FLOOD CONTROL INTERIM STUDY
(a) The Texas House of Representatives shall conduct a study
of:
(1) methods of flood control in Texas;
(2) local, state and federal flood control activities;
and
(3) governmental cooperation between local entities;
(4) improved governmental mechanisms to prioritize
and streamline flood control efforts;
(5) the need for a regional system of flood control;
(5) the potential of flood control districts to
improve flood control efforts;
SECTION 2: AREAS OF STUDY. The study shall include a county
with a population not less than 1,300,000 and not more than
1,400,000, according to the most recent federal decennial census.
SECTION 3: A report on the study and recommendation shall be
delivered to the lieutenant governor and the speaker of the house of
representatives no later than November 1, 2004.
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
