A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the terms of office of the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 402.002, Labor Code, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 402.002. TERMS; VACANCY. (a) Members of the commission hold office for two years [staggered six year terms, with the terms of one member representing employers and one member representing wage earners expiring on February 1 of each odd numbered year]. (b) If a vacancy occurs during a term, the governor shall fill the vacancy for the unexpired term. The replacement must be from the group represented by the member being replaced. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
