H.C.R. No. 3
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Residents of Paris, Texas, lost an esteemed public
servant with the untimely passing of Sergeant Robert Lee Trapp of
the Lamar County Sheriff's Department on January 13, 2003, at the
age of 40; and
WHEREAS, A native Texan, Robert Trapp was born in Paris on
September 19, 1962, to Elmer Lee and Glenna Fay Bishop Trapp; as a
young man, he graduated from Paris High School and later married the
love of his life, Laurie Pullen, on August 8, 1987, in Hugo,
Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated law enforcement professional worked
as a reserve officer and dispatcher for the Paris Police Department
before earning his peace officer certification from the East Texas
Police Academy in 1991; he was hired in 1994 as a liaison officer
for Lamar County Emergency Management and as a patrol officer by the
Lamar County Sheriff's Department; and
WHEREAS, Over the ensuing years, he was promoted to
investigator and sergeant and won the respect and admiration of
colleagues and citizens alike for his courage, professionalism, and
integrity; Sergeant Trapp was named Officer of the Year in 1999, and
he earned a host of other well-deserved commendations during the
course of his career; and
WHEREAS, In his free time, he was active with the Elks Lodge
and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Trapp was an outstanding officer, involved
citizen, and devoted family man whose commitment to his profession,
community, and loved ones will long be remembered by the countless
people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Lee Trapp and extend
sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Laurie
Trapp; to his children, Andrew and Sarah Trapp; to his mother,
Glenna Trapp; to his brother, Johnny Trapp; to his sister-in-law,
Trina Trapp; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
Robert Lee Trapp.
