H.C.R. No. 7  


HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The passing of Jose Ricardo Nevarez on July 14, 2002, at the age of 51, brought a great loss to the family and friends of this esteemed gentleman, and it is indeed appropriate to honor his memory at this time; and WHEREAS, Born February 4, 1951, Mr. Nevarez was a longtime public servant who began his career in 1975 with the Texas Department of Human Services; he was a staunch believer in democracy and representative government, and he worked hard to promote equality and justice throughout his life; and WHEREAS, A man of passion and integrity, he was committed to serving the residents of Uvalde County and dedicated himself to ensuring the availability of education, food, housing, and health care for all; and WHEREAS, Mr. Nevarez played a vital role in securing funding for Uvalde's Community Health Center; he later served as the consumer board member representative on the National Association of Community Health Centers' Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Nevarez was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather; the needs of his family always came first and he took great pride in supporting their endeavors and in celebrating their accomplishments; and WHEREAS, The citizens of Uvalde County and the family and friends of Mr. Nevarez were truly blessed to have him as their ally and amigo de verdad, and although his passing has left a void in their lives, his legacy and spirit will live on for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby pay tribute to the life of Jose Ricardo Nevarez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the house of representatives and senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of Jose Ricardo Nevarez.
