CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, January 28, 2003, is a day of great celebration for Al and Shirley Bendick of Lubbock, who are commemorating their 25th wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bendick and the former Shirley Divet met while he was serving in the United States Army Special Forces in San Antonio; they were united in matrimony on January 28, 1978, in Lawton, Oklahoma, and their enduring union has been blessed with four children, Renee, Amber, Jesse, and Samuel; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bendick attended Trinity University in San Antonio; she has been a dedicated and caring homemaker throughout the years and now homeschools her two young sons; and WHEREAS, Chief executive officer for Oasis Medical Services, Inc., Mr. Bendick earned a bachelor of science degree and a master of science degree from the University of Oklahoma; and WHEREAS, Residents of Lubbock for the past 10 years, the Bendicks are valued members of their community and serve on the board of Gospel Ministries for Children, Inc., in San Angelo; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bendick has also devoted considerable time to public service as a member, and now chair, of the Texas State Board of Physician Assistants Examiners, an oversight body to which he was appointed by Governor George W. Bush; in addition, this distinguished gentleman serves on the board of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and on the advisory board for the Texas Tech Physician Assistants program in Midland; and WHEREAS, A silver wedding anniversary is indeed a special event in the lives of two people, and Al and Shirley Bendick may reflect with great pride on the life they have built together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Al and Shirley Bendick on the joyous occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest wishes for a happy and memorable day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bendick as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
