HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, GENCO Federal Credit Union celebrates a significant milestone in April 2003, when it marks its 50th anniversary of doing business in Texas; and WHEREAS, Chartered in 1953, GENCO was originally created to meet the financial needs of employees of the General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco; and WHEREAS, When the company closed its doors in 1985, the credit union moved to a new facility in the heart of Waco's business district and broadened its field of membership, extending its service to local branches of the Musician's Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Amvet, and others; and WHEREAS, In 1992, GENCO began a new chapter when it purchased Lufkin Regional Federal Credit Union; operating under a community charter, the company is able to serve anyone who lives or works in McLennan or Angelina county; and WHEREAS, For five decades, GENCO Federal Credit Union has given exceptional service and provided hardworking citizens with financial assistance to realize their dreams; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate GENCO Federal Credit Union on its 50th anniversary and extend to all those associated with GENCO best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for GENCO Federal Credit Union as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
