CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
	WHEREAS, Providing support services to older workforce 
development participants is a common goal of the Texas Workforce 
Commission and the Texas Department on Aging; and
	WHEREAS,  The Texas Workforce Commission and local workforce 
development boards provide job seekers with information about 
support services such as transportation assistance; and
	WHEREAS, The Texas Department on Aging and local area 
agencies on aging provide connections to an array of support 
services, and the staff is knowledgeable about the needs of older 
workers; and
	WHEREAS, Local workforce development boards are charged with 
forming working relationships with local entities, agencies, and 
institutions that provide support services to workforce 
development participants; and
	WHEREAS, Local area agencies on aging are charged with 
providing information to older Texans about federal, state, and 
local support services, including workforce services; and
	WHEREAS, A memorandum of understanding between the Texas 
Workforce Commission and the Texas Department on Aging would 
promote an integrated, effective workforce system; now, therefore, 
be it
	RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas 
hereby encourage the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas 
Department on Aging to establish a memorandum of understanding and 
a process to promote local partnerships relevant to a coordinated 
delivery of support services to older workforce development 
participants; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward a copy of this 
resolution to the executive directors of the Texas Workforce 
Commission and the Texas Department on Aging.
