CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, A distinguished career came to a conclusion when Jack W. Coe of Alvin retired from Rohm and Haas Texas Incorporated on March 14, 2003; and WHEREAS, Before joining Rohm and Haas, Mr. Coe was employed with Celanese, Solvay, and Texas City Refining; during his 42 years in the petrochemical industry, he accumulated a wealth of experience in maintenance, manufacturing, safety, and public affairs; and WHEREAS, Mr. Coe made numerous lasting contributions during his 17 years with Rohm and Haas; he ably served in the positions of risk communication manager, public/community relations manager, and, since 1994, public affairs manager; and WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan has participated in a variety of community and work-related organizations; he has demonstrated admirable leadership as cofounder of the TCC/ACIT Science Teachers Institute and as a founding member of the Deer Park Community Advisory Council; and WHEREAS, Using his professional expertise to meet public safety needs, Mr. Coe has supported the East Harris County Manufacturers Association (EHCMA) board of directors since 1986; in this endeavor, he has chaired a number of committees and now serves as advisor to the chairman; and WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous honors throughout the years, he received the Rohm and Haas Vice President's Award in 1997 and 1998, as well as the EHCMA Chairman's Award in 1998; and WHEREAS, In addition to crafting a successful career, he has been blessed with a loving family; he and his wife of 43 years, Dorothy, are the parents of four children, and they have proudly watched their family grow to include 12 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Coe may take pride in knowing that he has been a significant force in Deer Park's petrochemical industry, and he will be sorely missed by his colleagues; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Jack W. Coe on his retirement from Rohm and Haas Texas Incorporated and extend to him best wishes for future happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Coe as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
