CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Tyehimba Crear has been named first place and grand prize winner of the 2002-2003 Race Against Drugs poster contest sponsored by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Newspaper in Education program; and WHEREAS, The competition's guidelines required participants to illustrate the theme "Race Against Drugs" and demonstrate an understanding of the detrimental effects of drugs; the annual contest is a component of the Newspaper in Education program "Pathways to a Drug-Free Life" sponsored by Texas Motor Speedway; and WHEREAS, A fourth grader at Sunrise Elementary School, where she is a student of Katherine Murphy, Ms. Crear fashioned a warning titled "Don't Get Caught in the Web of Drugs" that features figures trapped in a spider web; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has shown great creativity, initiative, and maturity in creating a poster that so aptly illustrates the contest's worthy goals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Tyehimba Crear on her receipt of first place and grand prize ranking in the 2002-2003 Race Against Drugs poster contest and extend to her warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Crear as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
