CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, For 125 years, Central Texas families have come
together to worship at First Baptist Church of Mart, and this year's
milestone anniversary is truly deserving of special recognition;
and
WHEREAS, The church was established in 1878, when the town
was known as Willow Springs, and it was originally led by the
Reverend T. D. Suttle; over the last century and a quarter, the
church's members have remained steadfast in their faith and in
their service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Currently under the direction of Pastor Ron Curtis,
the congregation is celebrating this enduring institution's
anniversary with special church services and a luncheon for all
present and former members on April 13, 2003, and it is a pleasure
to join in recognizing this joyous event; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby congratulate all those associated with First Baptist Church
of Mart on its 125th anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for a meaningful and memorable observance; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the church members as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
