H.C.R. No. 196


HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, In times of combat, heroes like Marine Lance Corporal Kyle Howard come to the fore and inspire us with their acts of heroism and personal fortitude; and WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Howard has demonstrated exemplary courage and loyalty through his outstanding service in our nation's armed forces, putting his own life in jeopardy for the sake of his fellow Marines; in an act of altruistic bravery, this dedicated soldier used his own body to shield his unit from a rocket-propelled grenade; and WHEREAS, Though he suffered multiple injuries, Lance Corporal Howard ultimately saved the lives of many; through his unhesitating selflessness and his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and his country, Marine Lance Corporal Kyle Howard embodies the highest ideals of the armed service, and his actions are truly worthy of special praise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby honor Marine Lance Corporal Kyle Howard for heroic bravery displayed during Operation Iraqi Freedom and extend to him sincere gratitude for his efforts and best wishes for a speedy recovery; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Lance Corporal Howard as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
