H.C.R. No. 215
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, A number of talented elementary and middle school
students representing Area III participated in the Fort Worth
Independent School District's 2003 spelling bee contest, but only
two were able to claim the coveted titles of champion and runner-up;
and
WHEREAS, These bright young students showcased their
spelling abilities by winning their respective campus bees; they
were then afforded the opportunity to test their spelling skills
against other winners from schools throughout the district; and
WHEREAS, Vanessa Norris of Dunbar Middle School won the title
of Area III champion at the regional spelling bee, demonstrating
her mastery of this essential skill, while James Kemp of David K.
Sellars Elementary School also put in a strong showing and won the
runner-up position in the regional competition; and
WHEREAS, These talented young Texans have exhibited superior
spelling ability and determination, which will undoubtedly serve
them well throughout the years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby congratulate Vanessa Norris and James Kemp for their
impressive achievement in the Fort Worth Independent School
District's 2003 spelling bee championship and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Norris and Mr. Kemp as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
