CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Ambassadors of Christ Christian Academy boys'
basketball team has again achieved the pinnacle of success by
winning the school's second consecutive Texas Association of
Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Class 1A state championship;
and
WHEREAS, Advancing to the state tournament in Houston, the
Eagles routed the San Antonio Believers in the semifinal matchup
and demonstrated true championship heart in the title game against
district foe St. Alban's Academy, winning 75-64 to retain the
coveted crown; and
WHEREAS, The season's outstanding accomplishments were the
result of not only exceptional athletic ability but also total
dedication to the team concept by players Loris Williams, Fred
Douglas, Oscar Miller, Chris Brown, Chris Shepard, Josh Christian,
Moses Ellison, Generra Boozer, Glenn Miller, and J. P. Simpkins;
and
WHEREAS, Head coach Ron McDowell provided his young charges
with exemplary leadership and guidance, enabling them to attain
their dream of a repeat title, and he was ably supported in his
efforts by assistant coaches Jessica Thomas, Nelson Rowls, and Sam
Brown; and
WHEREAS, These dedicated student-athletes are a source of
tremendous pride to the students and staff at Ambassadors of Christ
Christian Academy, and it is indeed appropriate that their second
consecutive title be recognized; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby congratulate the members of the Ambassadors of Christ
Christian Academy boys' basketball team on winning the 2002-2003
TAPPS Class 1A state championship and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for prominent display at Ambassadors of Christ Christian
Academy as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate.
