H.C.R. No. 241
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
	WHEREAS, Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary School has been awarded 
"exemplary" status by the Texas Education Agency for its overall 
excellence in academic achievement; and
	WHEREAS, This designation establishes the school as one of 
the best in Texas and as one that is committed to the exemplary 
academic performance of its students; and
	WHEREAS, Among the demanding criteria that must be met to 
attain this status are a minimum of 90 percent of students passing 
each section of the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) 
examination and a maximum dropout rate of one percent; and
	WHEREAS, Enhanced academic achievement is the goal of all 
schools statewide, and attaining this special designation is truly 
a remarkable feat; and
	WHEREAS, The students and faculty at  Van Zandt-Guinn 
Elementary School have performed admirably in their quest for 
academic excellence, and their notable achievements as an 
"exemplary" school are indeed worthy of special commendation; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas 
hereby congratulate the students and faculty of Van Zandt-Guinn 
Elementary School on their school's designation as "exemplary" by 
the Texas Education Agency and extend to them sincere best wishes 
for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary School as an expression of 
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
