CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
	WHEREAS, East Handley Elementary School has been awarded 
"exemplary" status by the Texas Education Agency for its overall 
excellence in academic achievement; and
	WHEREAS, This designation establishes the school as one of 
the best in Texas and as one that is committed to the exemplary 
academic performance of its students; and
	WHEREAS, Among the demanding criteria that must be met to 
attain this status are a minimum of 90 percent of students passing 
each section of the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) 
examination and a maximum dropout rate of one percent; and
	WHEREAS, Enhanced academic achievement is the goal of all 
schools statewide, and attaining this special designation is truly 
a remarkable feat; and
	WHEREAS, The students and faculty at  East Handley Elementary 
School have performed admirably in their quest for academic 
excellence, and their notable achievements as an "exemplary" school 
are indeed worthy of special commendation; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas 
hereby congratulate the students and faculty of East Handley 
Elementary School on their school's designation as "exemplary" by 
the Texas Education Agency and extend to them sincere best wishes 
for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for East Handley Elementary School as an expression of 
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
