CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Paris, Texas, lost a beloved member of the community with the passing of Daon Wall on December 17, 2001, at the age of 63; and WHEREAS, A loving husband and father, Mr. Wall was a civic leader and co-owner of Wall Concrete Pipe, Inc.; elected to the Paris Junior College Board of Regents in 1975, he served more than 15 years as its president and helped to form an alliance between the Paris Junior College Foundation and the Paris Rotary Club, which helped to greatly increase scholarship money for students; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wall was instrumental in creating both the signature red Stetson cowboy hat that sits atop the city's miniature Eiffel Tower and the life-size sculpture of Pyro the Dragon, Paris Junior College's famed mascot; beloved by the residents of Paris, these local treasures have become visual representations of the town culture; and WHEREAS, An All-American football player who attended Paris Junior College on a football scholarship, he graduated from Austin College before returning to Paris and making it his home; those who had the privilege of knowing him will not soon forget his generous spirit and the lasting contributions he made to his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the life of Daon Wall and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Pat Wall; to his daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Ken White; to his son, Brian Wall; to his mother, Karnese Wall; to his grandchildren, Laura White, Courtney White, and Evelyn Wall; to his brother, Donald Wall; and to his many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of Daon Wall.
