CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, A courageous young Texan who demonstrated unflinching bravery and a resolute commitment to fulfilling his oath, regardless of personal consequences, has returned from the battlefield; and WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Manuel Espinoza, Jr., embarked from his military base in support of our nation's campaign to liberate Iraqi citizens from repression; this courageous soldier was seriously wounded while fighting near the southeastern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah; and WHEREAS, Corporal Espinoza joined the marines shortly after graduating from Weslaco High School in 2000 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, before being deployed to the Persian Gulf; he has now returned to this country, where his wounds will heal and scars will fade, but the dedication he demonstrated to his homeland will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, The sacrifices made by Corporal Espinoza and his fellow soldiers while serving their nation in Iraq have earned the heartfelt gratitude of all Americans, who join his parents, Martha and Manuel Espinoza, Sr., his sister, Sandra Lara, and the members of this body in applauding his safe return; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby honor Marine Corporal Manuel Espinoza, Jr., for his heroic service in Operation Iraqi Freedom and extend to him sincere gratitude for his valiant efforts and best wishes for his recovery; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Corporal Espinoza as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
