R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Fisher House, Inc., has assisted thousands of 
military families during their most challenging times and has  
directly affected the lives of many grateful Texans; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in 1990 by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, 
this nonprofit organization provides housing accommodations on the 
grounds of major military and VA medical centers so family members  
can be nearby when loved ones are hospitalized; and
	WHEREAS, Serving more than 7,000 families annually, Fisher 
House has 28 locations throughout the United States and Europe, 
including one at Fort Bliss in El Paso, one at Fort Hood in Killeen, 
and five in San Antonio; since its inception, it has made available 
more than 1.5 million days of lodging and has saved families close 
to $60 million; and
	WHEREAS, Fisher House offers further assistance through its  
CaringBridge program, which gives updates of the patient's 
condition to friends and family members who cannot be at the 
hospital; Fisher House also supports the Scholarships for Military 
Children Program and cosponsors the Newman's Own Award for Military 
Community Excellence; and
	WHEREAS, In recognition of the dedication and sacrifice  
routinely demonstrated by the men and women in our armed forces, 
Fisher House, Inc., works tirelessly to bring comfort and aid to 
service members and their families in their time of need, an 
endeavor most deserving of special commendation; now, therefore, be 
it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Fisher House, Inc., for its noble work in 
behalf of U.S. military families facing serious illness or injury; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Fisher House, Inc., as an expression of highest regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
