R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tejas Office Products, Inc., a Houston-based
distributor, marked its 40th anniversary on November 8, 2002, and
this noteworthy occasion is truly deserving of special legislative
recognition; and
WHEREAS, Since 1962, Lupe Fraga has built Tejas Office
Products into a thriving business focused on innovation and
superior customer service; with more than 50 employees and $12
million in annual sales, this family-owned business is today one of
the largest independent office supply distributors in the Houston
metropolitan area; as a result of its steady expansion, the company
has recently opened a branch in the North Texas city of Richardson;
and
WHEREAS, Keenly attuned to the importance of technology,
Tejas Office Products has made intensive and highly successful use
of the Internet; its e-commerce capability has not only simplified
ordering for its customers in Texas and across the United States but
also led to several sales abroad; and
WHEREAS, Driving the company's robust growth is the vast
volume of business it conducts in the greater Houston area; by
consistently rendering exceptional service, Tejas Office Products
has established strong relationships with Shell Oil Company,
Methodist Hospital, and Reliant Energy; the firm also serves as the
primary supplier to The University of Texas Health Science Center
at Houston and to United Space Alliance, the chief contractor for
NASA's space shuttle program; and
WHEREAS, Widely recognized for its creativity and commitment
to quality, Tejas Office Products has been featured in the Houston
Business Journal and Hispanic Business magazine, as well as in the
series Small Business School 2000, which was broadcast on PBS;
moreover, it has been named Supplier of the Year 2000 by United
Space Alliance and MWBE (Minority and Women Business Enterprise)
Supplier of the Year for 2002 by Shell Oil; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of four decades, Tejas Office
Products has contributed to the operation of numerous Houston
companies and institutions while exemplifying the highest
standards of business practice, and the resounding success of this
locally owned firm is indeed richly deserved; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Lupe Fraga and all those associated
with Tejas Office Products, Inc., on the company's 40th anniversary
and extend to all of them sincere best wishes for continued growth
and prosperity; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Tejas Office Products, Inc., as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
