R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On March 20, 2003, public-spirited women from throughout the Lone Star State are gathering in Austin to celebrate Texas Federation of Republican Women Day at the Capitol; and WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women strive to encourage participation in the political process while actively supporting Republican candidates, providing strength and unity for political action, and encouraging Republican women to run for office; and WHEREAS, The federation held its organizational convention in October 1955; today, with 183 local clubs and more than 12,000 members, the Texas Federation of Republican Women is one of the largest women's political organizations in Texas; and WHEREAS, The Texas Federation of Republican Women enables its members to demonstrate both their support and concerns regarding the way in which government manages such critical issues as health, crime, education, taxes, and financial security, and it also serves as a political education forum for women; and WHEREAS, Members of this esteemed group have volunteered countless hours to Republican Party candidates, chairing campaigns, directing phone banks, coordinating rallies, and handling myriad other crucial responsibilities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby recognize March 20, 2003, as Texas Federation of Republican Women Day at the Capitol and welcome each member of this noteworthy organization who is visiting on this day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
