H.R. No. 28 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Adlai Travis Mast, Jr., of Nacogdoches, died on December 4, 2002, at the age of 81, and his passing has deeply saddened his family and many friends throughout the community; and WHEREAS, Mr. Mast was born on January 14, 1921, in Nacogdoches; he acquired his early education from local schools, Riverside Military Academy in Georgia and Florida, and Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia; he then studied at Stephen F. Austin State University and The University of Texas at Austin, where he belonged to the Sigma Nu fraternity, and he also served as a pilot with the British Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Corps; and WHEREAS, A rancher in Texas and New Mexico, Mr. Mast contributed his time and energy to a wide spectrum of professional entities; he was president of the Fredonia Hotel and Convention Center Corporation, Piney Woods Architectural Preservation, Inc., the Nacogdoches Farm and Ranch Association, and the Nacogdoches Horse Show Association, and served as director of Regions-Stone Fort Bank and Trawick Royalty Owners; and WHEREAS, Mr. Mast, a fourth-generation East Texan, showed a deep commitment to his hometown through his dedication to preserving historic Nacogdoches; his efforts resulted in the restoration of the Cotton Exchange Building, the Mayer-Schmidt Building, and the Jones House on Church Street; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan also faithfully supported Stephen F.
