R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, January 20, 2003, represented a milestone or, it
could be argued, a millstone, in the life of the Honorable Jim
Keffer, for on that day he celebrated the momentous occasion of his
50th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Born on January 20, 1953, this San Angelo native was
reared in Dallas, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High
School in 1971; he went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Texas
Tech University and become Eastland's favorite son, having
contributed to the vitality of the local community for many years,
both as the president of EBAA Iron Sales, Inc., and as the state
representative for District 60 in the Texas House of
Representatives since 1997; and
WHEREAS, Not only has Representative Keffer been successful
in his professional pursuits, but he has also been blessed with a
fine family, which includes his devoted wife of 27 years, Leslie
Bradley, his three sons, Brad, Chris, and Robby, and his smart,
good-looking younger brother, who has joined him in the house this
session; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as a public servant,
Representative Keffer has been recognized by numerous
organizations as an outstanding legislator, and while his
colleagues greatly appreciate the ideas he brings to the table,
they also value his sense of humor, which may come in handy in the
days to come; and
WHEREAS, With his recent birthday, Jim Keffer has now
successfully completed 50 years of his life, and doing anything for
50 years is undoubtedly an accomplishment worth noting; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Jim Keffer on the
recent celebration of his 50th birthday and extend to him best
wishes for the next half-century to be even better; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Representative Keffer as an expression of high regard
by his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
