                                                                  H.R. No. 52 



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Students and staff from Duchesne Academy of the 
Sacred Heart are visiting the State Capitol, and it is indeed a 
pleasure to welcome them to Austin; and
	WHEREAS, More than 600 Houston area girls from a variety of 
nationalities and religious denominations and ranging from age four 
to age 18 study a college-preparatory curriculum at the school; 
established in 1960, Duchesne Academy is a member of the Network of 
Sacred Heart Schools, and its mission reflects the educational 
vision of St. Madeline Sophie Barat, who founded the Society of the 
Sacred Heart in 1800; and
	WHEREAS, While attending Duchesne Academy, each student is 
motivated to excel intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, 
socially, and physically in an environment that celebrates the 
diversity of its student body; staff members endeavor to promote an 
educational experience that will help their alumnae mature into 
individuals of deep faith who strive to improve the quality of life 
for their fellow human beings; and
	WHEREAS, Enriched with a fine education, these exceptional 
young women from Duchesne Academy will be well prepared to face the 
challenges of the future, and it is most appropriate that they be 
honored today; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby welcome the visiting delegation from Duchesne 
Academy of the Sacred Heart to the State Capitol and extend to them 
warmest best wishes for success and happiness in all their 
endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Duchesne Academy as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
