                                                                  H.R. No. 60 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The people of Palo Pinto County lost a highly esteemed civic leader with the passing of Jean Tillotson "Nanny" Price on January 31, 2002; and WHEREAS, Born on September 22, 1926, to Guy and Kathryn Tillotson, she moved in 1938 with her parents from Mineral Wells to Palo Pinto, where the Tillotsons operated a service station and a restaurant, which was called Tilley's Café after the family's nickname; she graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1944 as class secretary and, since becoming a member of the Fifty Year Club in 1994, had given generously of her efforts to help make the group's reunions truly memorable occasions; and WHEREAS, On May 30, 1946, this lovely lady exchanged wedding vows with Charles Wright Price, Jr., a descendant of Isaac Wright Price, who served as the first tax assessor-collector for Palo Pinto County; Mrs. Price and her husband enjoyed a close and fulfilling marriage until his passing, and she took great pride in her three children, Wayne, Bud, and Barbara, and the close ties she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Preserving the history of Palo Pinto County was of utmost importance to Mrs. Price, and she devoted much of her time and energy to that end; she was a longtime secretary of the Palo Pinto County Historical Commission and served variously as secretary and secretary-treasurer of the Palo Pinto County Historical Association for more than 25 years; as an officer of the history book committee of first the association and then the commission, she was instrumental in the publication of both volumes of the county's history; moreover, this multitalented individual contributed historical articles to the Mineral Wells Index and functioned as an unofficial curator of the Old Jail Museum in the county seat of Palo Pinto, where she lived; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Price shared her notable talents as a pianist and organist with several churches during her lifetime, and, although facing the challenges of arthritis, she was serving as pianist for First Methodist Church of Palo Pinto at the time of her passing; and WHEREAS, In all her relationships, Mrs. Price was highly regarded as a kind, thoughtful person who was always quick to extend a helping hand and who consistently demonstrated her appreciation of others; and WHEREAS, The life of Jean Tillotson Price has been an immeasurable blessing to her family, her friends, and the citizens of Palo Pinto County, and her spirit will continue to light the hearts of all who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jean Tillotson "Nanny" Price and extend sincere sympathy to the family and many friends of this beloved woman; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean Tillotson Price.
