H.R. No. 76 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mickey Stoddard of Archer County was recently inducted into the Western Swing Society's Hall of Fame, and this impressive accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Based in Sacramento, California, the Western Swing Society awards this prestigious designation only to individuals who have at least three decades of musical experience in the swing industry; and WHEREAS, A deserving recipient of this award, Mr. Stoddard showed an interest in music at the tender age of five, and he began making music professionally eight years later; and WHEREAS, Born in Odessa and raised in Goree, he currently plays the drums with Eddie McAlvain and the Mavericks; he is equally adept with the trumpet and cornet and is a singer and songwriter as well; a popular musician, he also plays with the Maverick Cooking Team Band, the Jim Norton Trio, and the Over the Hill Gang; and WHEREAS, When he is not performing, Mr. Stoddard works as a service technician for Haigood and Campbell and is active in the Sons of the American Legion, Post #169; he is a Mason and a Shriner, and regularly plays taps for the local veterans' funerals as well; and WHEREAS, Mickey Stoddard is a man of many talents, and it is a pleasure to recognize his recent achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mickey Stoddard on his induction into the Western Swing Society's Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Stoddard as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
