R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, LaMonica Jones of Houston has been chosen to receive
an Outstanding Texan award by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus in
recognition of her many achievements as a student; and
WHEREAS, The Outstanding Texan award was created to honor
individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to
improving, developing, and enriching the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, A Houston native and senior at Forest Brook High
School, Ms. Jones has demonstrated a deeply rooted commitment to
excellence in every aspect of her life; and
WHEREAS, This highly motivated young woman has been an
A-student throughout her academic career; she is a member of the
National Honor Society, and this spring she will rank in the top of
her graduating class, after which she plans to attend Sam Houston
State University with the goal of becoming a registered nurse; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being an exceptional student, Ms.
Jones maintains an impressive extracurricular schedule; she is an
All-American cheerleader and captain of the nationally ranked
Forest Brook High School cheerleading squad as well as a member of
Health Occupation Students of America; and
WHEREAS, The willingness to embrace the challenges life
presents as an opportunity to excel is an admirable quality, and
with this rare ability, Ms. Jones can indeed look forward to a
bright and promising future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate LaMonica Jones on being named an
Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend
to her sincere best wishes for success and happiness in her future
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
