R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Shirley Anne Smith of Waxahachie on January 21, 2003, has greatly saddened the family and many friends of this beloved Texan; and WHEREAS, Born on July 21, 1941, Mrs. Smith was the cherished wife of James A. Smith and the mother of two adoring sons; and WHEREAS, She had retired from her position as a senior administrative assistant from the Texas Department of Transportation in Ellis County and was active with the women's ministry at Ferris Avenue Baptist Church, where she had been a member for nearly three decades; and WHEREAS, Shirley Smith was a devoted wife and mother, neighbor, and friend, and while she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Shirley Anne Smith and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, James A. Smith; to her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Dan and Linda Smith and Ricky and Jill Smith; to her sister, Pauletta Palasota Cohn; to her four grandchildren, Shelby Lynne, Tyler James, Brady Daniel, and Lindsey Peyton; to her god-daughter, Anna Clare Cohn; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Shirley Anne Smith.
