R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Carol Jean Deering on April 17, 2002,
brought great sorrow to the family and friends of this beloved
woman; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Deering was born on June 13, 1944, in Ironton,
Ohio, the daughter of proud parents Carl and Juanita Meyers; she
grew up with five siblings in a loving home where her mother and
father placed emphasis on family and faith; and
WHEREAS, Shortly after graduating from St. Joseph's Catholic
High School, she married William Deering, her husband of nearly 40
years; in 1975, the couple moved to Texas and made a home in
Angleton; and
WHEREAS, A woman who cherished her faith and family, Mrs.
Deering was actively involved with Holy Trinity Catholic Church and
was a member of the Catholic Daughters; she was a proud and devoted
mother who nurtured and sustained her children with loving care,
insight, and wisdom; and
WHEREAS, This warm and gracious woman was a beloved friend to
many and, while she will be missed, her spirit will live on in the
hearts and minds of the people with whom she shared her life; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Carol Jean Deering and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her
husband, Bill Deering; to her children and their spouses, Debra and
John Obenhaus, William and Sandra Deering, and John E. Deering; to
her grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Obenhaus, John Lyle Obenhaus II,
Amanda Carol Deering, and Alexandra Marchelle Deering; to her
mother, Juanita Meyers; to her sisters, Molly Scherer, Elaine
Click, and Cindy Czernieckie; to her brother, Eddie Meyers; and to
her other loved ones; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Carol
Jean Deering.
