H.R. No. 109


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Donald Patman, outgoing president of the Texas Farm Bureau, has worked diligently to support our state's agricultural industry, and it is a pleasure to recognize his dedicated efforts; and WHEREAS, Long active in the Lone Star State's agricultural community, this esteemed gentleman has given generously of his time and talents in support of organizations on both the state and local levels; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patman is a former president of the Ellis County Farm Bureau who has also served as its secretary-treasurer as well as membership chairman and cotton and wheat commodity chairman; and WHEREAS, He joined the Texas Farm Bureau's board of directors in 1994 and was elected as its vice president two years later; after four terms as vice president, he won the presidency in January 2000, and he has earned the respect and admiration of men and women throughout the industry for his unwavering commitment to Texas farmers; and WHEREAS, In addition to his service to the farm bureau, Mr. Patman was selected to serve on a USDA task force regarding farm and ranch planning, and he is a member of the board of directors for the Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company and the Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patman has received numerous awards for his efforts, including the Communication and Public Relations award from the Professional Agricultural Workers of Texas, an Honorary State Lone Star Farmer award, and the Rotary Soil Conservation Award; and WHEREAS, An accomplished cattleman as well as a farmer, Mr. Patman has made invaluable contributions to the citizens and economy of Texas, and it is most appropriate to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Donald Patman on his service as president of the Texas Farm Bureau and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Patman as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
