H.R. No. 119
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 50 years, the Bridge City Volunteer Fire and
Rescue, an agent of the Orange County Emergency Service District
No. 2 Volunteer Fire Department, has provided public safety and
peace of mind for the residents of Bridge City and Orangefield; and
WHEREAS, The department was organized in 1951 as part of the
Bridge City Civil Defense Unit by John Robert Saint and Archie
Calhoun, who served as its first members; and
WHEREAS, Originally called the Bridge City Volunteer Fire
Department, the department later became part of Orange County
Emergency Service District No. 2 and today has more than 40 members
who cover a 75 square mile area; and
WHEREAS, For five decades, the department has been composed
of a courageous group of individuals who stand ready to meet the
challenge of protecting the citizens and property of Bridge City
and Orangefield; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the Orange County Emergency
Service District No. 2 Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years of
outstanding service to the people of Bridge City and Orangefield
and extend sincere best wishes to all who have contributed to the
department's success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of the department as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
