R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride in celebrating Goodwill Industries of Texas Legislative Day at the State Capitol on February 12, 2003; and WHEREAS, Goodwill Industries of Texas is dedicated to assisting people with disabilities or other barriers to employment in becoming self-sufficient, contributing members of our communities by providing them with training and employment opportunities; and WHEREAS, Over the years, this visionary organization has achieved much success; in 2001 alone, more than 22,000 people received vocational services and 2,600 Texans were placed in jobs, earning more than $46 million collectively; the organization was also able to provide services to some 3,000 welfare recipients, aiding in the reduction of the number of Texans living in poverty; and WHEREAS, Goodwill Industries of Texas is helping many residents of this state build a brighter and more promising future for themselves, and it is truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby recognize February 12, 2003, as Goodwill Industries of Texas Legislative Day at the State Capitol and extend sincere best wishes to all those associated with Goodwill Industries.
