H.R. No. 126
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On September 3, 2002, BP Solvay Polyethylene North
America received the highest honor from the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)
when the company was recognized with the VPP Star; and
WHEREAS, OSHA established the Voluntary Protection Program
to work with companies in a partnership to improve safety; Star
sites have exceptional safety programs in place, low injury rates,
and employees who are actively involved in protecting each other
from injuries; and
WHEREAS, BP Solvay Polyethylene North America is one of the
world's largest producers of high density polyethylene, which is
used to make such products as packaging, telecommunications
conduits, underground pipes, geosynthetic materials, automotive
parts, industrial containers, and recreational items; and
WHEREAS, With its designation as a Star work site, BP Solvay
Polyethylene North America has proven itself to have an exemplary
safety and health program, an achievement resulting from 10 years
of dedication and teamwork; and
WHEREAS, Through their development of and adherence to a
far-sighted and exacting health and safety program, the management
and workers at BP Solvay Polyethylene North America have achieved
an impressive record of worker safety and created a model site
within their industry; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate BP Solvay Polyethylene North
America on having been recognized as an OSHA Star site and extend
sincere best wishes for many years of continued success to all
associated with this enterprise; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
