H.R. No. 132


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Yvonne Williams of Dallas has been chosen to receive an Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus in recognition of her many contributions to her community; and WHEREAS, The Outstanding Texan Award was created to honor individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of others; and WHEREAS, Ms. Williams was born to proud parents Vastine and Ola Mae Williams and raised in Dallas; she is a graduate of James Madison High School and the Southern Bible Institute; and WHEREAS, She began her professional career as the lead cashier with Best Products and retired as management assistant; she also worked for the Dallas Post Tribune as the front office manager; and WHEREAS, This altruistic woman has committed innumerable hours to serving her community as a regular volunteer at local schools, the Junior Black Academy of Arts and Letters, the Jolly Elders of J. C. Turner Recreation Center, Kiest Tennis Center, and For Keep's Sake Daycare Academy; and WHEREAS, A faithful member of the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dallas, Ms. Williams currently serves as church secretary and bulletin clerk and is a member of the Hospitality Committee; she has been recognized by her congregation as an Outstanding Church Usher and has served as president of the Inspirational Choir, secretary of the Usher Board #2, and secretary of the Operation Sunshine Committee; and WHEREAS, This devoted mother of two and grandmother of 11 has been a dedicated servant of her community and has touched the lives of many, and she is truly worthy of being named an Outstanding Texan; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Yvonne Williams on receiving the Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to her sincere best wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
