H.R. No. 134


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, John D. Ingram of Dallas has been chosen by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus to receive an Outstanding Texan Award for his significant contributions to the community; and WHEREAS, The Outstanding Texan Award was created to honor individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of others; and WHEREAS, A Marshall native, this esteemed gentleman opened Mr. Formal Tuxedo Rental & Sales in 1961; since that time, his business has expanded to three stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is the second-oldest minority-owned tuxedo business in the nation; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Ingram has garnered a host of impressive accolades for his business acumen, including designation as Entrepreneur of the Year and Business Man of the Year and recognition from the National Association of Market Developers and Quest for Success; and WHEREAS, In addition to his successful career, Mr. Ingram is also very involved in working for his community; he is a member of the NAACP, the DeSoto, Oak Cliff, and Dallas chambers of commerce, and the Dunbars Social and Charity Club; he is also a veteran of the United States Army and an active member of Concord Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has worked diligently to create a brighter future for both his business and his community, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring his latest accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate John D. Ingram on being named an Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for success and happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ingram as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
