H.R. No. 146


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Chae'dria L. Robinson of Dallas has been selected to receive the Future African American Leadership Award by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus on February 7, 2003, and this auspicious accomplishment indeed merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson is a senior at David W. Carter High School, where she was an active member of the drill team for three years and is the editor and director of public relations for the newspaper; and WHEREAS, After graduating fourth in her class this spring, Ms. Robinson plans to attend Williams College in Massachusetts to pursue a degree in political science and French/history; she also hopes to earn a law degree and pursue a career in international journalism and United States foreign policy; and WHEREAS, This public-spirited young woman has volunteered with a host of community organizations, including the annual Clean South Dallas project, the Alpha Rho Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, and The Ten Group, logging more than 160 hours of service; she is also president of her school's PALS program, an initiative that provides high school students as mentors for local elementary school students; and WHEREAS, Being presented with a Future African American Leadership Award is truly a prestigious honor, and as Ms. Robinson embraces a future bright with promise it is indeed appropriate to commend her for her achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Chae'dria L. Robinson on her receipt of a Future African American Leadership Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Robinson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
