R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rahshied Carr of San Antonio has received a 2003 Outstanding Texan Award in the Youth category from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and WHEREAS, The Outstanding Texan Award was created to honor individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving, developing, and enriching the lives of others; and WHEREAS, A senior at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, Mr. Carr has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to academics, maintaining a 91.353 grade average and participating in Minorities Introduced Into Engineering 2001; and WHEREAS, This talented young man is also actively involved in a number of extracurricular activities; he plays basketball and is a member of the student council and the National Honor Society; moreover, Mr. Carr is active in his community through the NAACP Youth Council; and WHEREAS, His myriad accomplishments include a listing in Who's Who Among American High School Students, recognition as an All-American Scholar, and receipt of the Principal's Award; and WHEREAS, With a positive attitude and his many good works and deeds, Mr. Carr has proven himself to be a role model and leader for his fellow classmates, and he is most deserving of commendation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Rahshied Carr on receiving an Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Carr as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
