                                                                  H.R. No. 162



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A 95th birthday is truly cause for celebration, and 
Oleta Wise of Milam County will share this milestone with friends 
and family on February 8, 2003; and
	WHEREAS, Born and raised in Milam County, this beloved woman 
became known and admired throughout her community as a teacher in 
the Milano Independent School District, where she taught and 
nurtured students for 31 years; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Wise graduated from Yoe High School in 1925, as 
a member of the school's first graduating class, and married the 
love of her life, Vel Wise, in 1927; she received an emergency 
teaching certification during World War II, finishing her degree at 
the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed woman continues to live on the Wise 
family farm, which has been in the family for 120 years, and remains 
an active participant in the Milam County Retired Teachers 
Association and a devoted member of Liberty Community Church; and
	WHEREAS, For 95 years, Oleta Wise has enriched the lives of 
all who have had the privilege of knowing her, and she is indeed 
deserving of the long and happy life with which she has been 
blessed; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Oleta Wise of Milam County on the occasion 
of her 95th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for a 
memorable celebration; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
presented to Mrs. Wise as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
