H.R. No. 164


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Willis Johnson of Dallas has been named an Outstanding Texan in the area of entertainment by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and WHEREAS, After graduating from East Texas State University, Mr. Johnson moved to Dallas and joined KKDA Radio as an on-air personality; during his time with the station, he promoted many worthwhile community efforts, including Rochester Park flood relief, bicycle drives, fans for the elderly, the African-American heroes banquet, a post-Thanksgiving feast for the homeless, and the Bishop Five revival to raise money for Paul Quinn College; and WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson also has hosted his own nationally syndicated television show, "Impact with Willis Johnson," and worked for WFAA-TV; he currently owns J-BJ Marketing Company, which makes alliances between minority firms and major companies and features a distinguished clientele; and WHEREAS, The loving husband of Stephanie and proud father of LaTrecia and B. J., Mr. Johnson has remained steadfast in his service to the community throughout his successful career, and his efforts have created a brighter future for his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Willis Johnson on his receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award in the area of entertainment from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
