R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ashley Richard of DeSoto has been named an
Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
WHEREAS, A junior at DeSoto High School, this exceptional
young woman has demonstrated a deeply rooted commitment to academic
excellence; with a 4.75 grade point average, she currently ranks
13th in her class of 505 students; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this multitalented individual is an
accomplished member of the varsity track team and the entertainment
editor of her school's award-winning newspaper, The Eagle Eye; Ms.
Richard is also a member of the student council and vice president
of the school's National Spanish Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Listed in Who's Who Among American High School
Students, Ashley Richard is a source of tremendous pride to her
family and to her fellow students, and it is most appropriate that
she be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ashley Richard on her receipt of an
Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Richard as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
