R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Curtis E. Ransom of Coppell has been named an
Outstanding Texan in the business category by the Texas Legislative
Black Caucus; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ransom is the president and owner of CERP Foods,
Inc., and Ransom Management, Inc., and has operated as a KFC
franchisee since 1990, with 10 KFC locations and two Pizza Hut
Express units in the Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin markets; in
addition, he is an active member of the KFC National Chef Council
and is a past president of the KFC Minority Franchise Association
and the KFC Dallas/Fort Worth Advertising Cooperative; and
WHEREAS, Before embarking on this impressive career, Mr.
Ransom earned a bachelor's degree in business management from
Hampton University in Virginia and a master's degree from Virginia
Commonwealth University; he also held middle and senior management
positions with C&P Telephone Company, SmithKline Corp., and
Pro-Line Corp.; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board, this esteemed gentleman gives generously of his time and
talents in support of a number of noteworthy initiatives, including
the Dallas County Community College Foundation, the Dallas Black
Chamber of Commerce, and the Dallas Urban League; furthermore, he
serves on the board of trustees for Hampton University; and
WHEREAS, A recipient of the 16th Annual Quest for Success
Award from the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, Curtis E. Ransom is
a visionary businessman, a dedicated state and community leader,
and an inspiration to all who know him, and it is a pleasure to
recognize his most recent achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Curtis E. Ransom on his receipt of
an Outstanding Texan Award in the business category from the Texas
Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ransom as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
