H.R. No. 170


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Patrick Williams of DeSoto High School has been chosen to receive an Outstanding Texan Award in the student category from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and WHEREAS, The son of Roy and Berthena Williams, he is currently a junior at DeSoto High School where he has demonstrated outstanding athletic ability and competitive spirit as quarterback of the school's football team; in addition, Mr. Williams excels in the classroom, maintaining a 3.97 grade point average, and is a member of the student council; and WHEREAS, Mr. Williams is also active in his community and his many contributions include providing assistance to the North Texas Food Bank and taking part in building a playground with Habitat For Humanity; and WHEREAS, A congregant of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, Mr. Williams plans to attend college after his high school graduation and pursue a degree in business; and WHEREAS, This remarkable young man's determination to excel in all aspects of life, combined with his commitment to serve his community, make him an ideal subject for this prestigious honor and it is appropriate that he be recognized at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Patrick Williams on his receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award in the student category from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
