H.R. No. 180


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, January 24, 2003, marked a milestone in the life of Thomas Samuel Dawson of Alvin, for on that day he celebrated his 70th birthday; and WHEREAS, Born January 24, 1933, this Alabama native was reared in Excel, which was also home to his cousin, Leroy Jordan, the famous Dallas Cowboy linebacker; he graduated from Excel High School and after serving two years in the armed forces was hired by Chemstrand, a subsidiary of the Monsanto Chemical Company; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dawson's new employer had the foresight to move a fine man to a great state and transferred him to Alvin, Texas, to supervise the startup of a new project, the Chocolate Bayou Plant; and WHEREAS, This notable gentleman has been successful in his professional pursuits not only as a supervisor for Monsanto for 27 years but also as the proprietor of his own firm, Technical Inspection Services, for 17 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dawson has been blessed with a loving family, which includes his devoted wife of 38 years, State Representative Glenda Dawson, his daughter, Delilah, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Lauren and Dawson; and WHEREAS, With his recent birthday, Tommy Dawson has successfully completed 70 years of living with the tenacity of a bulldog while excelling in his roles as husband, father, grandfather, friend, and businessman; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Tommy Dawson on his 70th birthday and extend to him best wishes for a long life and a reminder that in the Book of Job the Bible promises that the latter part of his life will be even greater than the first part; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Dawson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
