H.R. No. 206


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Judy Richards, a former member of the Duncanville City Council, has worked untiringly for the betterment of her community and the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, Ms. Richards shared her time, energy, and expertise with the Duncanville citizenry as a dedicated member of the city council from May 1996 to May 2002; she was also selected to serve two terms as mayor pro tempore, from 1997 to 1998 and again from 2000 to 2001; and WHEREAS, Major undertakings completed during her tenure on the council include construction of the Duncanville Library/Community Center and the Dr Pepper Stars Center, as well as the renovation of Lake Side Park and Lions Park; the community was further enhanced through new signs at the city limits and through grants for landscape and paint projects; moreover, Ms. Richards testified on numerous occasions before committees of the Texas House of Representatives and Senate on issues of concern to the state's municipalities; and WHEREAS, Highly regarded by her colleagues and fellow citizens, Ms. Richards has been a valued member of the Duncanville Historical Society, the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce, and Best Southwest, a partnership of the Duncanville and other area chambers; and WHEREAS, The residents of Duncanville have been truly enriched by the knowledgeable and energetic leadership of this esteemed public servant, and it is indeed a privilege to honor her at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Judy Richards on her fine tenure as a member of the Duncanville City Council and on her continued commitment to her community and extend to her sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Richards as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
