R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On January 14, 2003, a public-spirited group of
citizens from El Paso came to the State Capitol for the opening day
of the 78th Texas Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Journeying more than 600 miles from El Paso County
to Austin, the delegation witnessed firsthand the swearing in of
their newly elected state representative as he took the
constitutional oath of office, and their actions demonstrated their
sincere commitment to forging a strong bond of communication and
trust with their elected official; and
WHEREAS, Included in this noteworthy group were Rita P.
Sariñiana, Magdalena Flores, Rodrigo Flores, Tina Silva, Rosa
Martinez, Hector Parada, Bertha Cano, Jesus Cano, Irma Camargo,
Carmen Cruz, Jose Serna, Delia Bochmeyer, Teresa Payan, Lamo Payan,
Arturo Vasquez, Margarita Flores, Margaret Rodriguez, Pierre
Parada, Todd Fiske, Haydee Fiske, Nena Pena, Brenda Torres, Lorenzo
Portillo, Otilia Portillo, Sandra Portillo, Elvia Orona, Liza

WHEREAS, These individuals share a keen interest in the
legislative process and state government, and their active
participation in the democratic process sets an inspiring example
of good citizenship to which others may aspire; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the citizens of El Paso who attended the
opening day ceremonies of the legislative session for their
dedication to good government and extend to them sincere best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for each member of this group as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
