R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 40th wedding anniversary is a special occasion
in the lives of two people, and on February 15, 2003, Frank and
Alicia Moreno of Houston are celebrating this joyous occasion; and
WHEREAS, Frank Moreno, Jr., and the former Alicia Perez were
brought together through the magic of Tejano music, and their bond
of love has only grown stronger throughout the years; a
professional musician from the age of 14, Mr. Moreno was playing
trumpet in the band of Neto Perez, Alicia's brother, when the couple
met; they were engaged on October 25, 1962, and they embarked on a
life together that has been filled with the joys of good music,
successful careers, and children in whom they can take great pride;
and
WHEREAS, United in matrimony on February 10, 1963, Mr. and
Mrs. Moreno have been blessed with a special family that begins with
the love and support of their own parents, Frank and Olivia Moreno,
Sr., and Sisto and Ofelia Perez; in turn, Frank and Alicia are the
proud parents of three children, Sarah Moreno, Mario Moreno, and
our esteemed colleague, State Representative Joe Ernest Moreno of
District 143; they have happily watched their family grow further
to include four grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Mathew, and Drake,
as well as several godchildren; and
WHEREAS, In addition to playing his music, Mr. Moreno worked
for the Houston Coca-Cola Bottling Company until his retirement; a
homemaker for many years, Mrs. Moreno began teaching bilingual
education in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) in 1982
and is currently principal of HISD's Berry Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Through an abiding love for each other and an
unyielding devotion to their family, Mr. and Mrs. Moreno have
created a profound and lasting union that is a great inspiration for
all who know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Frank and Alicia Moreno on their
40th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Moreno as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
