R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Estell D. Hobbs, Sr., of Houston on
February 9, 2003, at the age of 80, has left a void in the lives of
the many people who cherished him, and it is with heavy hearts that
we say goodbye to this esteemed gentleman; and
WHEREAS, The son of Arthur and Diccie Melton Hobbs, Mr. Hobbs
was educated in the Limestone County School District; he was a
dedicated employee of Armco Steel for 33 years before retiring in
1984; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hobbs was an active congregant of Jones Memorial
United Methodist Church of Houston since 1960; a man of great faith
and compassion, he was a member of the collection stewards and the
Methodist Men; and
WHEREAS, Although his passing has brought great sorrow to
those who knew and loved him, the legacy of this very special man
will surely live on in the hearts and minds of the people whose
lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Estell D. Hobbs, Sr.,
and extend sincere sympathy to his family: to his loving wife,
Robbie Hobbs; to his devoted children, Patricia Fears, Terry Hobbs,
Janet Whorton, and Estell Duane Hobbs; to his precious grandsons,
DeRon Rutledge and Marquice Hobbs; and to the many other relatives
and friends of this beloved man; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Estell D.
